When to Go/Seasons

In Belize the high season for tourists corresponds roughly with the dry season: November to June. The shoulder months – especially December – receive a fair amount of rain, but not enough to scare away the multitudes of travelers who want to spend their holidays in the tropics.  Most hotels and resorts are more expensive during this period. Owning your own place here, saves a lot of money as opposed to staying in the resort hotels. Plus, when you’re not using your home here, you can always rent it out as a vacation rental, and create a very good revenue stream.
The biggest influx of tourists comes between December 15 and January 15, and during the weeks around Easter. Some hotels and resorts, especially top-end accommodations, charge extra-high prices during these peak periods. If you’re using top-end or some mid range accommodations, you’ll certainly save money by avoiding these seasons.
The rainy season runs from June to November. The early months, especially May and June, are actually a wonderful time to travel to Belize: you can avoid the tourist bustle and lodging is slightly cheaper. southern Belize is especially precarious during the rainy season; this relatively remote region receives two to three times as much rain as the northern parts of the country.

While the capital was once Belize city, it was moved to Belmopan in 1973.  Belize lies just below the Yucatan Peninsula. Mexico resides to the north and west, and Guatemala is south and west of the country.
With Belize situated on the northeast coast of Central America, it is home to the Great Barrier Reef, which is the largest living coral barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere, second in the world only to the Great Barrier Reef of the coast of Queensland, Australia.
There are over 200 islands here,  called cayes, (Keys) The barrier reef which runs 190 miles long helps protect these cayes, and the cayes protect the coastline from the sometimes destructive tendencies of an open sea
Here the waters are so clear, almost  turquoise in color.  The colorful corals below make for a stunning diving trips and can even been seen from the air when flying overhead.
On the mainland, there is a low coastal plain, much of it covered with mangrove, but the land rises gradually to the base of the Maya Mountains and the Cockscomb Range form the backbone of the southern half of the country, the highest point being Victoria Peak (3,669 feet). The Cayo District in the west includes the Mountain Pine Ridge, ranging from 305 to around 914 meters above sea level. The northern districts contain large areas of low tableland.
There are many rivers throughout the country. A large part of the mainland is forest, however, it is not considered a true rainforest. It falls just short of the required rain totals to be labeled a rainforest. So, the forest is termed a moist tropical forest. Regardless, of its official name you can find an abundance of wildlife, birds, reptiles, and stunning flowers and fauna.
Belize is home to 4 different species of mangrove, the red mangrove (Rhizophora mangle), the black mangrove (Avicennia germinans), the white mangrove (Laguncalaria racemosa), and the buttonwood (Conocarpus erectus) They act as feeding and nursery grounds for approximately 74 species of fish and 178 bird species.

Investing in Belize

Belize is a leading Caribbean offshore banking jurisdiction located in northern Central America. Many visitors to this country are intrigued about offshore banking. The growth in international travel, and the increasing use of the Internet to make a living or help manage businesses from afar, has led to the growing use of offshore banking and offshore trusts to help manage income, money and assets. Many modern-day entrepreneurs and others have made the decision to relocate or diversify their financial affairs and open offshore accounts.
As a premier offshore banking center, Belize offers unique advantages. You can fly here (under two hours from the U.S.A.) or actually drive down from North America.

Starting from scratch in 1990, this offshore banking center has built up a thriving financial services business. It now offers a variety of offshore structures geared to the needs of international investors. Why Belize For Offshore Banking?
Noted American writer Bruce Barcott describes Belize thus: “Belize is a tiny nation tucked between Guatemala, Mexico, and the Caribbean Sea. It is firmly attached to Central America but considers itself a Caribbean island. For more than a hundred years Belize was known as British Honduras, one of the most remote outposts of the British Empire, which explains why it is the only Latin American nation to embrace English as its official language. Belize goes unnoticed by the rest of the world, and over the years the country has parlayed its obscurity into an attractive asset. For those shipwrecked on the shoals of life, Belize offers a new beginning.”
